Theologizing Asian American and Pacific Islander Faith Journeys
A workshop for clergy, lay leaders, students, & people on the journey
Wednesday, March 25, 2009
10:30am-3:30 pm
San Jose, CA
An Invitation from the PANA Institute
As a continuation of the API Clergy & Lay Leaders Consultation PANA held in October 2008, we invite you to this workshop where we will delve deeper into the theological tools & analysis of our lived stories. In this workshop we will engage as a community in a process of theological reflection as Asian American and Pacific Islander Christians. And uncover how our stories can inform our ministry practices and build capacity in our congregations.
Professor Eleazar Fernandez, one of the leading voices in Asian American, postcolonial, and liberation theology, will be our theological and biblical resource person, drawing on his broad practical experience educating and organizing in communities across the U.S. and in the Philippines.
Come to:
- Learn a method for doing theology as a community that interweaves the bible, theology and our actual lived experiences as Asian American and Pacific Islander people;
- Bring back tools and models to use in your congregational setting;
- Build solidarity and deepen understanding between the great diversity of Asian and Pacific peoples living in the Bay Area (across differences of ethnicity, class, national origin, and generation in this country);
- Network and strengthen the regional network of API congregations and faith individuals.
